UN to map Pakistani Glaciers

The United Nations (UN) has chosen to plan 5,000 glaciers in the north of Pakistan. Through this review, by figuring out the speed of climbing temperatures and the resulting liquefying of icy masses, an endeavor will be made to make a framework that can forestall future calamities brought about by environmental change.

Its motivation is to make an early admonition instrument for disasters like floods. As per the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), 5 thousand glacial masses will be planned in the following 18 months.

Connaught Ostby, the delegate of UNDP in Pakistan, has said during a meeting that Pakistan has the biggest number of icy masses on the planet.

Connaught Ostby said the most common way of planning these glaciers should be finished very soon on the grounds that the quickly softening glacial masses have made lakes in the mountains, which in the future could prompt one more significant flood in the marshes, like the ongoing risky floods. May cause debacles.
